Kathy Tune

Kathy Tune is the Executive Board Chair of Marani Health, Inc., a digital maternal and fetal health care solutions company. Her background includes venture capital and growth equity investing, M&A transaction expertise, corporate strategy, business development, sales and marketing strategy, and reimbursement strategy in companies ranging from startups to large organizations in the healthcare. She is an active corporate board director, including leading and participating on audit, finance, and compensation committees.    

She is a Managing Partner with Capita3, an early-stage venture capital fund focused on women-led healthcare startup founders and was a partner at Thomas, McNerney & Partners, where she led and managed portions of the investment portfolio. She has extensive community leadership involvement and serves on several non-profit boards, including serving as the current chair of the Gillette Children’s Hospital board and the University of Minnesota Discovery Capital Board. Kathy currently serves on the corporate boards of Marani Health, Inc., Electromed, Inc (NYSE American: ELMD), along with several additional private healthcare company boards.    

Prior to her current roles at Marani and with Capita3, she was a partner at Thomas, McNerney & Partners, a leading U.S. healthcare private equity firm. At Thomas, McNerney, she led and managed portfolio company investments with a primary focus in health care technologies, diagnostics and connected medical devices. Prior to joining Thomas, McNerney & Partners, Kathy was a healthcare equity analyst with Piper Sandler (Piper Jaffray), focusing on medical technology companies where she provided in-depth market and financial analysis of the industry and specific companies. She also advised companies and public and private market investors on issues related to the medical device and diagnostics industries and participant in a number of initial public offerings and follow-on public offerings. Prior to joining Piper Sandler, Kathy was a product development manager with Pfizer, leading high-profile projects developing vaccines for the prevention of viral infections. Kathy was also a Senior Scientist in at the University of Minnesota, where she launched an in-house molecular diagnostics laboratory.   

Kathy holds an M.S. degree in Veterinary Microbiology from the University of Minnesota and an MBA from the University of Minnesota’s Carlson School of Management, where she was a Robert and Gail Buuck Scholar. She also holds a B.S. in Biochemistry and Microbiology from Minnesota State University, where she graduated with honors.
