Ann Guyott, MBA, Director of Operations, Emergency Care Consultants

What is your current role?

I have been with Emergency Care Consultants for 17 years! My role as Director of Operations is broad and far-reaching, providing an opportunity to work cross-functionally with many team members and touching nearly all aspects of the organization.

Why did you join the TRUST? What is your TRUST role?

I joined the TRUST in the spring of 2021 through the graduate school membership program with the primary goal of building my network. My first event was a New Member Coffee and immediately I was impressed with the caliber of women and how engaged, inspiring and welcoming they were. I knew instantly that I had “found my people!”

I am currently serving my first year as a Board member and co-lead the Programming Committee.

What has been your favorite part of being a TRUST member?

Hands down, the community of women leaders has been my favorite part of being a member of the TRUST. Every member I have met has been incredibly supportive and encouraging, allowing me to grow both professionally and personally. My personal “Board of Directors” has grown, and I have created some strong and lasting friendships. That is invaluable!

What one word would you use to summarize what the TRUST means to you?

Empowerment.

What is the best career advice you’ve received?

The only real failure is the failure to try. Early in my career, I had a strong fear of failure, preventing me from taking risks. With time, I have learned that failure is necessary for growth. A growth mindset is critical to persist through obstacles and challenges, to learn from mistakes and to succeed as a leader.

How do you support other women in their leadership journey?

I enjoy mentoring young women early in their careers. This can take many forms – listening and being present, offering words of advice and providing encouragement to take risks and push themselves out of their comfort zone.

What do you love the most about the health care industry?

I love the health care industry because it gives me the opportunity to make a positive impact on the lives of others. The constant change, growth and innovation are challenging and exciting.  Health care relies on a collaboration of people working together, and I enjoy being a part of a team working together towards a common goal.

How do you maintain or improve your health and well-being?

I try to incorporate physical activity into each day. This can be in the form of going on a bike ride with the kids, running/walking or strength training.  Exercise helps me reset and manage my stress.

Who inspires you?

My three daughters inspire me every day to be a better person, to embrace life and to make a difference in the world.
