Lorayne Etoll, Infection Prevention Specialist – Vascular, Solventum

What is your current role?

In my current role, I foster partnerships with health care providers to improve patient outcomes through innovative medical solutions. My role involves collaborating with clinicians to identify their needs, offering tailored product solutions, and ensuring a seamless implementation process. I have been with Solventum in the Medical Surgical Business for just under a year, and in that time, I’ve enjoyed building relationships and driving value for our healthcare partners.

Why did you join the TRUST?

I joined the TRUST in 2023 at the recommendation of a trusted colleague, who spoke highly of the meaningful connections and leadership development opportunities it provides. As someone who values continuous growth and collaboration, I’ve found the TRUST to be an incredible resource for building relationships with accomplished women leaders. The insights, encouragement, and shared expertise within this community have been instrumental in shaping my approach to leadership and making a lasting impact in my career. 

I serve as a member of the Forum Committee and have been actively involved since joining the TRUST. I am especially proud to have taken a leading role in reviving the Ambassador Program, working collaboratively with another committee member to bring it to life. This initiative has been a rewarding opportunity to foster engagement and connection among members, and this year, I am looking forward to working with the team to bring it to a new level.

What has been your favorite part of being a member of the TRUST?

My favorite part of being a member of the TRUST has been the opportunity to connect with an inspiring group of women leaders in healthcare. The shared knowledge, mentorship, and support from this community have been invaluable to my professional growth and personal development. The TRUST has provided not only professional insights but also friendships and connections with people who inspire me.

What is the best career advice you’ve received?

The best career advice I’ve received is to “listen twice as much as you speak.” A mentor once told me that the key to successful leadership lies in truly hearing others–not just their words, but their intentions, challenges and aspirations. This perspective has taught me the importance of creating space for others to feel valued and understood. By being an attentive listener, I’ve built stronger relationships, fostered trust and uncovered solutions that might have otherwise gone unnoticed.

Can you share a pivotal moment in your career that significantly influenced your leadership style or professional path?

In 2023, I was impacted by a corporate restructuring, which initially felt like a significant setback. However, I quickly embraced the truth in the saying, “Everything happens for a reason.” This unexpected turn of events allowed me to take what I called a “pause with purpose,” a chance to deeply reflect on what truly mattered to me. It gave me the clarity to focus on finding a role that would fulfill both my heart and my head—a position where I could take pride in the emotional impact of my work while channeling my strategic drive to make a meaningful difference. During this pivotal time in my career, the members of the TRUST were incredibly supportive and instrumental in helping me navigate my path forward. Their guidance and encouragement made a lasting impact on my journey.

Words of wisdom to live by?

One of my favorite quotes is from Maya Angelou: “People will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel.” These words resonate deeply with me because they remind me of the power of empathy and connection in both personal and professional life. They inspire me to lead with kindness, authenticity, and a focus on making a meaningful impact on others.
