Michelle Anderson, MBA, Director of Administration, Lakes Region EMS, and Founder, Ascend Coaching and Consulting, LLC

What is your current role?

I am currently the Director of Administration for Lakes Region EMS. As a 15-year employee of Lakes Region EMS, I have had the opportunity to work in a variety of roles.  My career started when I joined as an EMT working in the ambulance. I transitioned into the Education and Community Outreach Manager position, where I oversaw the external education and community outreach coordination. Five years ago, I moved into the Director of Administration role, where I oversee human resources, billing, accounting, and community outreach.

In early 2024, I will launch Ascend Coaching and Consulting, LLC. Executive coaching provides an opportunity for self-exploration, free from judgment and advice. It provides accompaniment on the leadership journey of looking inward, understanding potential and discovering what holds us back. The coaching space creates an environment for self-reflection, skill development and pushing through to new confidence and competence in supervising, managing and leading.

Why did you join the TRUST?

In 2022, I joined the TRUST as the COVID restrictions began to lift. My mentor encouraged me to join to deepen my network of female leaders. It has been a wonderfully powerful experience to meet so many talented and brilliant women. I hope to offer as much back to members as they have provided me.

What has been your favorite part of being a TRUST member?

I have deeply enjoyed connecting with so many amazing leaders with such diverse experiences. Learning how to grow ourselves, connect with others and spark curiosity is important for leaders. The TRUST has offered the opportunity to develop in all of these areas. I am continually amazed at the deep knowledge and talent of the members.

What one word would you use to summarize what the TRUST means to you?

Connectivity.

What is the best career advice you’ve received?

How do you support other women in their leadership journey?

In February of 2023, I decided to take a coaching class through UC Berkeley. This class has afforded me the opportunity to coach other female leaders across the country. It has been a joy and honor to serve so many gifted women. Due to this avenue, I have also been able to connect women with other leaders to strengthen their network.

What do you love the most about the health care industry?

Whether it is by direct patient care or a listening ear, health care is a way to care deeply for others. These moments create a connection with another human, which is the reason we are all here.

Who inspires you?

My team inspires me every day. I have the honor of leading a brilliant group of women who bring their whole hearts to our organization every day. Their ability to lift the spirits of the office and create space for each individual amazes me. They are truly a gift!
