Christiana Lawver, MBA, CHFP, Director Revenue Cycle Operations, Financial Clearance, Optum Insights supporting Allina Health

What is your current role?

I’ve been with Allina Health for nine years in various roles. In May 2024, I was rebadged to Optum but I still support Allina Health in the same capacity as I did previously.

In my current role, I am responsible for the centralized teams that perform Pre-Registration, Insurance Verification, Prior Authorizations and a variety of other front-end Revenue Cycle functions.

Our goal is to financially clear patients for upcoming scheduled services and share potential patient financial liability, to enhance patient experience and minimize surprise bills.

Why did you join the TRUST & what is your role?

I joined the TRUST in 2021. I was referred to the TRUST by others who had found it to be a valuable resource from a networking and career development standpoint.

I am a TRUST Associate Board member and I facilitate the New Member Coffees!

What has been your favorite part of being a TRUST member?

The genuine kindness I’ve experienced from the TRUST members is truly unique. I can’t think of another professional setting where strangers were as welcoming and had an authentic interest in supporting me wherever they could.

What one word would you use to summarize what the TRUST means to you?

Belonging.

What is the best career advice you’ve received?

The best career advice I’ve received was to get a mentor. I’ve had the privilege of participating in the TRUST Mentorship Program for two years now, and it has truly been an invaluable experience. The program’s structure allows mentors and mentees a unique opportunity to network and build relationships with others within their cohort while also benefiting from the structured mentorship program.

How do you support other women in their leadership journeys?

Specific to the TRUST, I have really enjoyed having the opportunity to welcome new members to the TRUST, share how to navigate the TRUST and help make connections.

What do you love the most about the health care industry?

There are too many to choose! I love knowing the work we do is making a difference for our patients every day. I work with truly amazing people who care deeply about doing a great job today while also improving health care for tomorrow, and that is a gift. The work is full of new challenges, and it allows me to use process improvement, project management and leadership skills every day, which keeps the work interesting while making sure I continue to learn and grow as well.

Who inspires you?

My daughter. I want to be a role model for her that she can accomplish anything she sets her mind to.
