TRUST Associate Board

Jessica Hendrickson, CPA, MSA, Director, Treasury & Insurance Risk Management, Prime Therapeutics

What is your current role?

I started at Prime Therapeutics five years ago after spending several years in the paint and coatings industry. In my current role as the Director of Treasury and Insurance Risk Management, I am responsible for overseeing the organization’s overall liquidity and corporate insurance program. I also serve as the Vice President and Treasurer of Prime’s captive insurance company.

Why did you join the TRUST?

A business contact introduced me to the TRUST shortly before the pandemic. She knew I had recently transitioned into the health care industry and wanted to build a wider network and greater exposure to opportunities within health care. But I did not lean into the experience until 2021, when I joined the Associated Board as the Treasurer. Recently I had the opportunity to become the Associate Board Incoming Chair & Treasurer and joined the Finance Committee.

The TRUST has offered so much more than I originally anticipated.  I am forever thankful to my business contact who introduced me to such a dynamic and supportive group of professional women.

What has been your favorite part of being a TRUST member?

My favorite part is the networking opportunities while participating in the amazing programming. My favorite event has been the Well-being Retreat. It is a mix of networking, education and relaxation. I look forward to attending again in 2023.

What one word would you use to summarize what the TRUST means to you?

Growth.  I joined the TRUST with a goal to build a network but have found so much more in the educational programs, mentorship experiences and opportunities for personal and career growth.

What is the best career advice you’ve received?

During a particularly stressful point in my career, a mentor gave the following advice:  Time is finite. To help prioritize, picture three buckets – career, family/friends, and self – and choose the bucket to fill up. Give yourself grace for the buckets that are not full, and rebalance the buckets as often as you need.

Whenever I feel I am failing to balance all my priorities, I remember I have the power to rebalance and give myself grace for the current moment.

How do you support other women in their leadership journey?

I have been fortunate to have several amazing mentors and coaches, who have shared their wisdom, encouragement and support to guide my career path. My mission is to pay their kindness forward to others on their own career journey. I ensure I am available for my team and coworkers for coaching conversations, and participate in my alma mater’s student connection program.

How do you maintain or improve your health and well-being?

During the pandemic, I started to focus on maintaining my health and well-being. For me, exercise is the best method for burning off stress and refocusing my mind. I am also intentional about scheduling time with friends and family.

What’s one thing you can’t live without?

Coffee. I love the morning ritual of a good cup of coffee.
