Jenny Sobiech, MBA, VP of Payment Integrity Operations, Aetna

What’s your current role?
I have been with Aetna since December 2025 and lead the Payment Integrity Operations team globally which includes, but is not limited to operations for Coordination of Benefits, Data Mining, Fraud, Waste Abuse & Error, Claim Audit Review and Subrogation.
When did you join the Women’s Health Leadership TRUST and what roles have you held within the TRUST?
I originally joined the trust in 2017 and was a member on and off for a few years but re-joined in 2023 and have been a consistent member since! I currently sit on the Associate Board, the Leadership Committee and the IDEA committee.
What has been your favorite part of the TRUST?
Networking and meeting strong female leaders to learn from.
What is the best career advice you’ve received?
Be yourself, it’s exhausting to pretend to be something or someone you’re not and makes your daily life so much harder. Have confidence in who you are and embrace yourself.
What was a pivotal moment in your career that significantly influenced your leadership style?
I came back from maternity leave in 2014 and right away received a promotion. It was a job I had wanted for a long time and I felt like the stars aligned. Fast forward 6 months and I was miserable. I was a new mom, trying to balance a new job with a hefty travel schedule while trying to enjoy being a new mom. I ultimately decided to take a new role at a lower level and it was the best decision I made. Fast forward again 2 years later and I had been promoted twice in my new team and loved my job, all while having much better work-life balance.
What emerging trend in health care are you most excited about and why?
AI, I know….cliché, but the sky is the limit with AI. We are at a pivotal moment in history where we can truly impact the cost and care within health care.
What unique challenges have you faced as a woman in the health care industry, and how have you overcome them?
You need to be smarter, faster and better than every man in the room. I am challenged frequently and that no matter how much we try to have equity in health care executive leadership, there is still a gap. I do everything I can to empower female leaders to continue to bring closure to said gap.
What strategies do you use to build effective teams and promote collaboration?
Transparency, engagement, accountability and fun! We spend many hours with the people we work with, I try to be true to myself, my mission and my team. I like to lead with transparency and clear expectations. This ensures everyone knows their role on the team, everyone knows what success looks like on the team and everyone can enjoy the “wins” and have fun doing it together.
How do you maintain or improve your health and well-being?
I ensure I work out at least 3-4 times a week, read at least 2-3 books a month and get family time with my husband and kids. All of these keep me grounded on why I do what I do and ensures I don’t lose sight of balance.
