Adriene Thornton has been a registered nurse for 30 years. Her professional career started in her home state of Georgia. She has worked at Children’s Hospitals and Clinics of Minnesota for 23 years, with 16 of those years being as an infection preventionist . In her role she has been instrumental in establishing Children’s as an award-winning organization in the field of infection prevention. She has also played a key role in assisting with management of multiple disease outbreaks including measles, Ebola, and H1N1 influenza.
She was recently promoted to manager of experience and health equity. In this new role she and her team will work to improve the patient experience at all Children’s locations and build health equity into the fiber of the organization.
Adriene has a bachelor’s degree in nursing from Albany State University in Albany, Georgia, and a master’s degree in organizational management from Concordia University in St. Paul. She is completing her doctoral degree in business management with a health management focus.
