Adriene Thornton

Adriene Thornton has been a registered nurse for more than 30 years. Her professional career started in her home state of Georgia. She has worked at Children’s Minnesota for more than 25 years, with 17 of those years being as an infection preventionist. In her role, she has been instrumental in establishing Children’s as an award-winning organization in the field of infection prevention. She has also played a key role in assisting with the management of multiple disease outbreaks, including measles, Ebola and H1N1 influenza.

She is currently the manager of health equity. Her team is responsible for leading the organization’s strategic plans to reduce health disparities and address social determinants of health. 

Adriene has a bachelor’s degree in nursing from Albany State University in Albany, Georgia, and a master’s degree in organizational management from Concordia University in St. Paul. She is completing her doctoral degree in business management with a health management focus.
