We are excited for her to share her story. Dr. Wheeler will share her journey from obstetrician to CEO and how she brings her authentic self to her roles \nAbout our speaker:\nDr. Penny Wheeler\nFormer Chief Executive Officer\, Allina HealthPenny Wheeler\, MD\, is the recently retired chief executive officer of Allina Health. During her tenure\, Allina advanced its whole person care commitment by advancing care for those who have too often been incompletely served—those with mental health and addiction challenges\, disabilities\, or those who have faced care disparities due to race\, ethnicity\, gender identity\, or sexual orientation. Additionally\, Allina has been a leader in transitioning to value-based rewards to improve the community health and wellness most impactfully.Under her leadership\, Allina was named by IBM Watson as one of the top 5 large health systems in the country. Prior to her appointment as CEO\, she served as president and chief clinical officer of Allina Health\, responsible for leading the organization’s quality and value agenda. A board-certified obstetrician/gynecologist\, Dr. Wheeler served patients at Women’s Health Consultants in Minneapolis. She continues on the Allina Board as well as the Boards of the University of Minnesota Foundation\, St. Thomas University\, NRC\, and Cedar Cares. NRC and Cedar are both committed to improving the experience of those served by health care. \nDr. Wheeler was recently recognized as a Luminary by Modern Health Care for her multiple appearances on their top 25 Women Leaders in Health Care list. In addition\, she received an award as one of the 100 most influential people in health care and was recognized as one of the 50 most influential clinical executives. Previously\, she led Human Resources at Tenet Healthcare\, a large national healthcare services company. Earlier in her career\, she served as a management consultant at McKinsey & Company\, helping clients with organization and human capital opportunities. She also worked in various Finance roles at American Airlines and Sabre\, and Finance roles at General Motors. \nCathy earned her Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from the University of Washington and an MBA from the University of Michigan. She is involved in a number of professional organizations and currently is a trustee of the American Association of Cancer Research Foundation\, a board member of the Rochester Area Chamber of Commerce\, and as a member of the Women’s Corporate Directors.
